Weekly Brief:

1. We deeply appreciate that Ming Tang (Leanne Shen@dance troupe) and Keying Ma ( 万啸行@ G5B) and  Ernest Chiang (Graduated) for their generous contribution to our Guanghua Chinese School and Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center last week. Also, we thank all the donors who have made contributions to GHCS and GPCCC in the past year and we are looking forward your continuous support and help!  This will be of great help to our community and everyone will benefit significantly. Thanks!

2. Please join me to congratulate Aiden Guo and Roymond Zhao who have received the bronze President’s Volunteer Service Award. School will present their awards at the end of the Welcome Ceremony of the Chinese Master Teachers Delegation at the educational gym of MCCC around 2:00pm.

3. Also, there are two Guanghua students who have achieved excellent scores and won the Chinese Cultural and History Competition. 全美有33所中文学校的近3000多名学生报名参赛,岳明, Ming Yue won 176分 and 王嘉, Gavin Wang received 183分 (around the top No. 12)。Congratulations, Ming Yue and Gavin Wang!

4. The Chinese Master Teachers Delegation will arrive Dec 1. School will hold a welcome ceremony at the Educational Gym @1:30 on Dec 3. All the students except the ones who have classes at 1:00 pm should gather at the gym located at the Health Science Building. All the Chinese teachers and parent representatives should take responsibilities. After the ceremony, students from KG and G1 could be sent back to the classrooms by cars. Other students should line up and walk to Parkhouse Hall in order to avoid crowd at the parking lots. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

5.Teacher Zhou from the delegation will go to each grade to teach the Chinese anthem. The schedule for this coming Sunday is:

  • 2:10pm - 2:25pm    KGA, KGB, KGC at Room 102
  • 2:30pm - 2:45pm    G1A, G1B, G1C at Room 117
  • 2:50pm - 3:05pm    G2A, G2B, G2C at Room 303
  • 3:10pm - 3:25pm    CES classes at Room 314
  • 3:30pm - 3:45pm    G9A, G9B at Room 318

6. Dance Teacher Yang Qian will be in Room 121.  From 2:00- 4:00, will teach the Yi minority dance. From 4:00 -5:00 will teach the Miao dance.

Wu Shu Teacher Liu Wenwu  will be in Room 119. He will teach Wu Shu from 4:00-5:00.

Choir Teacher Zhou Chengchao will be in Room 324 to teach singing from 4:00-5:00.

7.   Activities at GPCCC (Cultural Center)

1) Guanghua Chess Club will have the first class at the Cultural Center this Friday night (Dec 1)@ 7:00pm. Instructor Alex Wang is a 8th grader at Tamanend middle school of Central Bucks. He loves to play chess and have played for 6 years, starting 2012. He was chosen by USCF (United States Chess Federation) to represent United States to play the World Cadets Chess Championship in 2016. Just recently in September, He got his USCF National Master title.  Please come to the Cultural Center on time if you have signed up for this club.

2) Free Yoga will be at the Cultural Center this coming Saturday Dec 2 at 1:30-2:30. It is free and donation is welcome!

8.  2017 Charity Eyeglasses Drive: We are a club of local high school and middle school students who are running a charity drive to collect eyeglasses (children and adults) this holiday season until the beginning of January 2018. We will distribute these eyeglasses to children and adults in need who live in nearby communities and in foreign countries. If you would like to donation your eyeglasses, please drop it at the bottle located at the school office 345 or at the cultural center.
