1. Ethan Wang, who received the Gold President Volunteer Service Award; and Eric Lang, Ashley Liu and Stephanie Zhang who received Bronze President Volunteer Service Award, please come to Atrium, Parkhouse Hall, MCCC @2:50pm Sunday Oct 15 to pick up your certificates issued by the Corporation for National & Community Service.

Recently, we have set up our Guanghua Chinese Association Inc as eligiable charitable organization on smile.amazon.com. 3. Classroom changes:

  • Liu Yuan teacher’s Keyboard and Chinese Class (KGC) move to Room 122.
  • Yang Dan teacher’s drawing and Chinese Class move to 120 because Room 328 is infested with bees due to a hive on the brickwork outside the building. MCCC blocks the access to Room 328 

4. Speech Contest at the class level is on Sunday 22 October 2017

  • Theme (主題)：Teacher will assign for the students in class.
  • Format (形式)：No Limitation, but must be a personal speech. No Props or background music are allowed. Student Self-written Speech content will be given extra points from scale 1 to 10 depending upon their writing.
  • Time （时间）：3 mins      
  • Class Level Contest (班级比赛)：

Class level contest will be held first. Each class is required to have a class level contest at school indicated time and send class level winners for grade level contest. It is mandatory for all teachers and students. For class level contest, each class will have their own parents to be the judges. Suggest parents not to judge their own child. Please have the students to draw the number to determine the sequence before the contest. Rating Forms are posted on school website under Form section. Teachers can print the forms for your own class. Class level winners will attend grade level contest at the following week. 

5. This Sunday, the annual Ride Ataxia will block access to the College from Morris Road. Please park your car at Lot #3.

  • 子女教育系列座谈之六：Oct  18 by Liu Li Lao Shi (Served as Teacher at Guanghua for over 22 years)

说起刘立老师，不光因为她那一口地道的京腔让我感到亲近，她对教学的认真，对学生的耐心也使我由衷敬佩。我家两个孩子都在课堂内外直接、间接受益过刘老师的教导，因为我在他们小的时候就经常向刘老师讨教。

刘老师的女儿毕业于麻省理工，儿子本科考上杜克大学，两个孩子现在都已经工作，她可谓是回头去看和孩子们一起走过的路，来帮助我们这些家长少走弯路。                   

经过游校长和我多番恳求，刘老师终于答应和光华的家长们分享为人父母的心得，我是翘首以盼，定会收获多多 ?。

7. Please pick up your tickets at the school office 345: Philadelphia Chinese Opera Society will have its 2017 Peking Operation Spectacular on Saturday, @2pm Nov 11, 2017 at Upper Merion Area Middle School Auditorium. $10 per ticket for Guanghua Families. Only a few tickets left. Buying 2 tickets will receive 1 more for free. 

8. Accel Academy’s SAT classes:  The Winter season (Dec 2, 2017 to Feb 17, 2018) registration is starting. All the information is attached. Guanghua students will have their classes at the Cultural Center and will receive 10% discount plus extra 10% if signing up before Nov 4. 

9.Lina Chen, New York Life Insurance Company will hold a Child ID event in MCCC for our students on Oct 22.  Having a Child ID will give parents or guardians the peace of mind of knowing that should anything ever happen to their child, they will have an ID with vital information to distribute to the local authorities.  For more information, please see attached file.
